Background And Aims: Managing infrainguinal vascular graft infections (VGI) in bypass reconstruction is complex. Although an autologous vein is the preferred graft material, alternative conduits are required when autologous veins are unavailable. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of cryopreserved arterial homografts and biosynthetic glutaraldehydemodifiedovine collagen grafts (Omniflow II) for the treatment of infrainguinal VGI.

Lidocaine is an analgesic agent frequently incorporated in topical formulations intended for application in minor surgical procedures or relieving neuropathic pain associated with numerous conditions, including post-herpetic neuralgia or diabetic peripheral neuropathy. In this study, Pickering o/w emulsions with halloysite nanotubes as a stabilizing agent and lidocaine incorporated in the internal phase were formulated with the use of the Quality by Design (QbD) approach. The selected emulsions were transformed into semisolid gels with poloxamer 407 as a thickening agent, and investigated for rheological and textural properties, indicating the mechanical features of the obtained gels.

: Prolonged courses of glucocorticoids (GCs) for patients suffering from inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) are associated with adverse effects. High-frequency ultrasonography (HFUS) has been utilized to quantify skin changes during short-term topical GC treatment. We aimed to quantify skin atrophy in IRD patients treated systemically with prolonged courses of GCs.

Cortical localization and hemispheric asymmetry of function are key concepts for analyzing the relationship between the brain, mind, and behavior in clinical neurology, neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and modern philosophy. This chapter presents the history of asymmetries in the human central nervous system within the context of right-left asymmetries of bodily structure, as can be detected in individuals of virtually all living species. It has been known since antiquity that behavioral deficits on one side of the body could be caused by brain lesions on the opposite side.
