This study assessed the biocompatibility and chemical properties of two bioceramic root canal sealers, EndoSequence BC Sealer (EBC) and Nishika Canal Sealer BG (NBG), using a sealer extrusion model. Eight-week-old male Wistar rats were used. The mesial root canals of the upper first molars were pulpectomized and overfilled with EBC, NBG, or, as reference, epoxy resin-based AH Plus (AHP).

The ventral striatum is crucially involved in reward processing. The present study investigates the behavioral effects of astrocyte-specific calcium extrusion virus "CalEx" on perseverative responses in the operant five-choice serial reaction time task and ethanol-conditioned place preference. Mice were injected with CalEx via the GfaABCD promoter to extrude cytosolic calcium from astrocytes within the ventral striatum.

Purpose: Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used as carriers for silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). In this process, MWCNTs were coated with mesoporous silica (MWCNT-Silica) for uniform and regular loading of AgNPs on the MWCNTs. In addition, astaxanthin (AST) extract was used as a reducing agent for silver ions to enhance the antioxidant, antibiofilm, and anticancer activities of AgNPs.

Poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is widely used in a variety of long-acting injectables. However, its biodegradable nature creates potential chemical stability challenges during melt extrusion, where PLGA is exposed to elevated temperature (100-140 °C) for several minutes. This study evaluated the thermal stability of three PLGA grades (Resomer® 502, 502H, and 505) with varying molecular weights and chain-ends using a differential scanning calorimeter and twin-screw extruder.

We recently reported a chiral phosphoric acid (CPA) catalyzed enantioselective photomediated ring contraction of piperidines and other saturated heterocycles. By extruding a single heteroatom from a ring, this transformation builds desirable C(sp)-C(sp) bonds in the ring contracted products; however, the origins of enantioselectivity remain poorly understood. In this work, enantioselectivity of the ring contraction has been explored across an expanded structurally diverse substrate scope, revealing a wide range of enantioselectivities (0-99%) using two distinct CPA catalysts.
