We compared ocular and eye-head tracking responses to an illusion of diagonal motion produced when vertical movement of a small visual target was synchronized to horizontal movement of a background display. In response to sinusoidal movement, smooth ocular pursuit followed vertical target motion, with only a small horizontal component. In response to regular stepping movement, all anticipatory saccades were in the direction of the illusion; these erroneous oblique movements were followed by corrective horizontal saccades. When the head was free to move, it usually showed a diagonal trajectory that, for both sinusoidal and stepping target motion, was always in the direction of the illusion; no corrective movements were present. Thus, for our illusory stimuli, eye and head tracking showed qualitative differences that imply that ocular tracking was ultimately controlled by actual target motion but head tracking was controlled by illusory target motion.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reinjury rates among athletes remain very high despite screening protocols designed to assess readiness for return to sport. To better identify biomechanical risk factors for ACL injury, combining neurocognitive challenges and high-impact tasks would more closely resemble sporting demands. Through the mobilization of movable objects due to the extreme hydraulic conditions during a flood event, blockages, damage to infrastructure, and endangerment of human lives can occur. To identify potential hazards from aerial imagery and take appropriate precautions, a change detection tool (CDT) was developed and tested using a study area along the Aisch River in Germany. The focus of the CDT development was on near real-time analysis of point cloud data generated by structure from motion from aerial images of temporally separated surveys, enabling rapid and targeted implementation of measures.

Background: Understanding midfoot joint kinetics is valuable for improved treatment of foot pathologies. Segmental foot kinetics cannot currently be obtained in a standard gait lab without the use of multiple force plates or a pedobarographic plate overlaid with a force plate due to the single ground reaction force (GRF) vector.
Research Question: Can an algorithm be created to distribute the GRF into multiple segmental vectors that will allow for calculation of accurate midfoot and ankle moments?
Methods: 20 pediatric subjects (10 typically developing, 10 with foot pathology) underwent multi-segment foot gait analysis using the Milwaukee Foot Model.
