Background: Within the dementia space, many caregivers lack understanding of hospice care and may not be well prepared for transition to hospice. Background: Despite data showing nutritional interventions high in antioxidant/anti-inflammatory properties (anthocyanin-rich foods such as blueberries/elderberries) may decrease risk of memory loss and cognitive decline, evidence for such effects in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients is limited. Therefore, we examined preliminary effects of American elderberry (Sambucus nigra canadensis) juice on cognition and inflammatory markers in MCI patients in a double-blind placebo-controlled trial.
Method: MCI patients (N = 24, M = 76.

Background: Boosting shared decision-making (SDM) for individuals with dementia is a critical aspect of patient-centered care. Conveying medical information and weighing various diagnostic and therapeutic approaches during times of emergency is difficult for all aging adults. In adult ED populations without dementia, communication is imperfect with incomplete recollection of test results, presumptive diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-up recommendations.

Background: In Ontario, Canada, province-wide initiatives supporting safer opioid prescribing in primary care include voluntary audit and feedback reports and academic detailing. In this process evaluation, we aimed to determine the fidelity of delivery and receipt of the interventions, the observed change strategies used by physicians, potential mechanisms of action, and how complementary the initiatives can be to each other.
Method: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with academic detailers and with physicians who received both interventions.
