A retrospective case series of 5 consecutive patients presenting with endometriosis of the ureter between 1978 and 1992 is reported. All patients were managed by a single Consultant Urologist in a district general hospital. The mean age of patients was 40.4 years (34-45). Only 1 patient had symptomatic ureteric obstruction. In 4 patients the diagnosis was incidental. Preservation or salvage of renal function will usually require surgical intervention. The diagnosis should be considered in women presenting with noncalculous ureteric obstruction, particularly premenopausal women of low parity or those who have had previously pelvic surgery. The pathology, presentation, investigation and management of the condition is discussed.

Several diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic urological procedures, such as stent placement, ureteroscopy, and bladder stone lithotripsy, can be performed in a hospital, an ambulatory surgery center, in the office with IV sedation, or in the office using only topical anesthesia. The potential benefits of performing procedures in the office setting using topical anesthesia include efficiency and cost reduction. The potential harms are failure to achieve the desired outcome and patient pain.

Neddylation is a process of attaching neuronal precursor cell-expressed developmentally downregulated protein 8 (NEDD8) to substrates for the protein function modulation via enzymatic cascades involving NEDD8-activating enzyme (E1), NEDD8-conjugating enzyme (E2), and NEDD8 ligase (E3). Defective in cullin neddylation 1 (DCN1) serves as a co-E3 ligase, that can simultaneously bind E2 UBE2M and cullin proteins to stabilize the catalytic center of the Cullin-Ring E3 ligase (CRL) complex, thereby promoting cullin neddylation. Neddylation is reported to be activated in diverse human diseases, and inhibition of protein neddylation has been regarded as a promising anticancer therapy.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) progresses through mechanisms involving inflammation, fibrosis, and oxidative stress, leading to the gradual structural and functional deterioration of the kidneys. Tormentic acid (TA), a triterpenoid compound with known anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, shows significant potential in counteracting these pathological processes. This study explored the protective role of TA in a unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO)-induced CKD model.

Purpose: To report the occurrence of acute postrenal kidney failure caused by external ureteral obstruction after iliac venous stent placement.
Case Report: A 73-year-old male patient presented with a chronic swelling and feeling of heaviness of his right leg. The presence of venous thrombosis was excluded by duplex ultrasound (DUS).
