This study investigated the potential health benefits of spearmint, orange peel, and baby sage oleoresins extracted using supercritical CO and subsequently emulsified. The oleoresins were incorporated into dark chocolate, and their impact on physicochemical properties was evaluated. Characterization revealed rich sources of phenolic compounds, carotenoids, and volatile compounds in these oleoresins.

There is a growing awareness among dermatology providers of ocular comorbidities in patients with the chronic inflammatory skin disease atopic dermatitis (AD). For example, the prevalence of ocular surface diseases (OSD) such as conjunctivitis is higher in patients with AD than in the general population, and the use of some AD treatments may be associated with OSD. In a recent review published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, dermatologists and ophthalmologists provided an overview of the different types, etiology, pathophysiology, and practical management of OSD associated with AD.

Drug development in recent years is increasingly focused on developing personalized treatments based on blocking molecules selective for therapeutic targets specifically present in individual patients. In this perspective, the specificity of therapeutic targets and blocking agents plays a crucial role. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and their surrogates are increasingly used in this context thanks to their ability to bind therapeutic targets and to inhibit their activity or to transport bioactive molecules into the compartments in which the targets are expressed.

Despite the rapid development of the immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in melanoma treatment, the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) still hinders the efficacy of immunotherapy. Recently, using agonists to modulate the TME have presented promising clinical responses in combination with ICB therapies. However, local intratumoral injection as the commonly used administration route for immune agonists would lead to low patient compliance.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that can significantly decrease quality of life. AD is commonly associated with comorbidities including ocular surface disease (OSD). Conjunctivitis is the most common OSD associated with AD and can increase in incidence with use of monoclonal antibody biologics that target the type 2 inflammatory pathway.
