Levetiracetam (LEV) is an anti-epileptic drug used extra-label in dogs. Commercially available extended-release formulations (LEV-ER), administered twice daily, cannot be crushed or split, limiting their use in small dogs. A compounded LEV-ER formulation (PO-COMP) can purportedly be partitioned without loss of extended-release properties.

The European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) developed consensus-based generic competencies in antimicrobial prescribing and stewardship. These may be useful in structuring and evaluating antimicrobial prescribing education to veterinary students, but their applicability has not been evaluated. We aimed to evaluate whether the ESCMID competencies are currently taught and how relevant they are to veterinary prescribing in veterinary schools globally.

Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum and bacteriostatic antibiotic with a time-dependent killing action. It is commonly used to treat respiratory diseases in goats in an extra-label manner. This study aimed to determine the plasma pharmacokinetics and milk residue depletion profiles and calculate the milk withdrawal interval (WDI) of florfenicol and its main metabolite florfenicol amine in lactating goats.
