To determine if ANSI N13.7-1972 is a useful method to test the accuracy of film badge processors to measure radiation doses to workers in the nuclear industry, a set of exposed dose values is compared to several sets of typical, but imaginary, reported dose values. The ANSI Standard is found to be a complex procedure with no direct test for accuracy. Because of these and other limitations of the Standard, it is concluded that ANSI N13.7-1972 is unacceptable for routine testing of film badges.

Background: Accurate measurement of blood pressure (BP) is crucial for the diagnosis and ongoing management of hypertension. Only devices that have been validated using an established protocol should be used to measure BP. The aim of this study was to validate the Microlife BP3T01-1B, an automated upper-arm BP measuring device, according to the DIN EN ISO 81060-2:2018-11 (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 81060-2:2018) standard protocol.

Deep-UV microscopy enables high-resolution, label-free molecular imaging by leveraging biomolecular absorption properties in the UV spectrum. Recent advances in UV-imaging hardware have renewed interest in this technique for quantitative live cell imaging applications. However, UV-induced photodamage remains a concern for longitudinal dynamic imaging studies.

Sound speed data measured using a dual-path pulse-echo instrument are reported for pure -1,2-dichloroethene (R-1130(E)) and an azeotropic blend of -1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluorobutene (R-1336mzz(Z)) and R-1130(E) with a composition of 74.8 mass % R-1336mzz(Z) with the balance being R-1130(E). The azeotropic blend of R-1336mzz(Z)/1130(E) is classified as R-514A in ANSI/ASHRAE standard 34.
