Introduction: Prostaglandins (PG) are important regulators of the myometrial contractility in mammals. Endometrosis, a condition characterized by morphological changes in the equine endometrium, also affects endometrial secretory function. However, it remains unclear whether and how endometrosis affects myometrial function.

Background: Traumatic injuries to spinal cord lead to severe motor, sensory, and autonomic dysfunction. The accumulation of inhibitory compounds plays a pivotal role in the secondary damage to sparing neural tissue and the failure of axonal regeneration and remyelination. Acid-sensing ion channel-1(ASIC1A) is widely activated following neurotrauma, including spinal cord injury (SCI).

Spatiotemporal characterization of cyclooxygenase pathway enzymes during vertebrate embryonic development.

Vertebrate development is regulated by several complex well-characterized morphogen signaling pathways, transcription factors, and structural proteins, but less is known about the enzymatic pathways that regulate early development. We have identified that factors from the inflammation-mediating cyclooxygenase (COX) signaling pathway are expressed at early stages of development in avian embryos. Using Gallus gallus (chicken) as a research model, we characterized the spatiotemporal expression of a subset of genes and proteins in the COX pathway during early neural development stages.

Luteal fibroblasts produce prostaglandins in response to IL1β in a MAPK-mediated manner.

Mol Cell Endocrinol

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE, USA; US Department of Veterans Affairs VA Medical Center, Omaha, NE, USA. Electronic address:

The corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is crucial for pregnancy, as it produces the progesterone needed to maintain optimal uterine conditions for implantation. In the absence of a conceptus, the corpus luteum becomes non-functional and undergoes rapid tissue remodeling to regress into a fibrotic corpus albicans. Early luteal regression is characterized by increased cytokine release.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of visual impairment, particularly in the proliferative form (proliferative DR [PDR]). The impact of the PDR microenvironment on microglia, which are the resident immune cells in the central nervous system, and the specific pathological changes it may induce remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of microglia in the progression of PDR under hypoxic and inflammatory conditions.
