Calculation program software of the four rules of arithmetic in computed tomography (CT) has been introduced for clinical purposes since 1990. Evaluation of hemodynamic reserve and cerebral autoregulation can be calculated using this software in ischemic cerebrovascular diseases and delayed cerebral vasospasm after ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Eight hemodynamic maps can be entered and calculation based on the four rules of arithmetic can be performed between them and shown visually. For example, delta CBF [CBF after administration of acetazolamide (B)-CBF before its administration(A)] and % CBF [(B - A)/A x 100] maps are useful in evaluation of the capacity of hemodynamic reserve in ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. And delta CBF [CBF before induced hypertension using intravenous dopamine administration (B)-CBF during induced hypertension (A)] and % CBF [(B - A)/A x 100] also can be used in evaluation of cerebral autoregulation and decision concerning indication of the need for induced hypertension during the period of delayed cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Unlabelled: Automated reasoning techniques based on computer algebra have seen renewed interest in recent years and are for example heavily used in formal verification of arithmetic circuits. However, the verification process might contain errors. Generating and checking proof certificates is important to increase the trust in automated reasoning tools.

Are the membrane systems able of performing arithmetic operations? In the last dozen years, there were published several implementations of the arithmetic operations based on membrane systems by using all available topologies (cell-like, tissue-like, or neural-like). In particular, the spiking neural P systems perform arithmetic operations by using the numbers represented in binary base. In this paper, we consider numbers represented in unary base (to each number n corresponds an object with multiplicity n), and we propose two encodings for the main arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) between numbers given in unary base: (i) for each pair of input values generate an instance of a spiking neural P system with astrocytes producing calcium with rules based on these values; (ii) generate a spiking neural P system with astrocytes producing calcium that does not depend on these values.

The selection of suppliers represents a pivotal aspect of supply chain management and has a considerable impact on the success and competitiveness of the organization in question. The selection of a suitable supplier is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem based on a number of qualitative, quantitative, and even conflicting criteria. The aim of this paper is to propose a novel MCDM approach dedicated to the supplier evaluation problem using an ordered fuzzy decision making system.

The field of consciousness studies has yielded various-sometimes contradicting-accounts regarding the function of consciousness, ranging from denying it has such function to claiming that any high-level cognitive function requires consciousness. Empirical findings supporting both accounts were reported, yet some of them have been recently revisited based on failures to replicate. Here, we aimed at replicating a remarkable finding reported by Ric and Muller (2012); participants were able to follow an unseen instruction, integrate it with a subsequently presented pair of unseen digits, and accordingly either add the digits (resulting in a priming effect), or simply represent them.
