A series of biodegradable nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems have been designed utilizing poly(β-amino ester)-guanidine-phenylboronic acid (PBAE-G) polymers. In this study, a novel Lentinan-Functionalized PBAE-G-nanodiamond system was developed to carry ovalbumin (LNT-PBAE-G-ND@OVA). The impact of this drug delivery system on the activation and maturation of macrophages was then assessed.

Mycobacterial hemerythrin-like proteins (HLPs) are important for the survival of pathogens in macrophages. Their molecular mechanisms of function remain poorly defined but recent studies point to their possible role in nitric oxide (NO) scavenging. Unlike any nonheme diiron protein studied so far, the diferric HLP from (-HLP) reacts with NO in a multistep fashion to consume four NO molecules per diiron center.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) include atherosclerosis, which is an inflammatory disease of large and medium vessels that leads to atherosclerotic plaque formation. The key factors contributing to the onset and progression of atherosclerosis include the pro-inflammatory cytokines interferon (IFN)α and IFNγ and the pattern recognition receptor (PRR) Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Together, they trigger the activation of IFN regulatory factors (IRFs) and signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)s.

Introduction: The role of mast cells (MCs) in clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC) is unclear, and comprehensive single-cell studies of ccRCC MCs have not yet been performed.
Methods: To investigate the heterogeneity and effects of MCs in ccRCC, we studied single-cell transcriptomes from four ccRCC patients, integrating both single-cell sequencing and bulk tissue sequencing data from online sequencing databases, followed by validation via spatial transcriptomics and multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC).
Results: We identified four MC signature genes (TPSB2, TPSAB1, CPA3, and HPGDS).

Sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) remains a leading cause of mortality in critically ill patients. Macrophages, key modulators of immune responses, play a dual role in both promoting and resolving inflammation. Exosomes, small extracellular vesicles released by various cells, carry bioactive molecules that influence macrophage polarization and immune responses.
