Hearing loss (HL) is a prevalent health concern with a significant impact on society and the economy. Several factors contribute to the development of hearing impairment, with noise overexposure being the primary culprit. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is also a factor in hearing impairment, and studies have shown a positive correlation between DM and HL; however, the exact causal relationship and pathogenesis remain contentious.

Complex networks, from neuronal assemblies to social systems, can exhibit abrupt, system-wide transitions without external forcing. These endogenously generated "noise-induced transitions" emerge from the intricate interplay between network structure and local dynamics, yet their underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Our study unveils two critical roles that nodes play in catalyzing these transitions within dynamical networks governed by the Boltzmann-Gibbs distribution.

Here, we analytically describe the eco-evolutionary dynamics of finite populations from demographic first principles. We investigate how noise-induced effects can alter the evolutionary fate of populations in which total population size may vary stochastically over time.

Noise-induced hearing loss is a worldwide public health issue that is characterized by temporary or permanent changes in hearing sensitivity. This condition is closely linked to inflammatory responses, and interventions targeting the inflammatory gene tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) are known to mitigate cochlear noise damage. TNFα-induced proteins (TNFAIPs) are a family of translucent acidic proteins, and TNFAIP6 has a notable association with inflammatory responses.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) constitutes a significant global health issue for which there is no effective treatment. The loss of cochlear hair cells and associated synaptopathy are common causes of hearing impairment. One primary mechanism implicated in NIHL is the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which ultimately overwhelms cochlear cells.
