Background: Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) place enormous burdens on families, care partners, and the public programs that finance ADRD services. Caregiving is disproportionately provided by women, individuals of low socioeconomic status, and underserved minority populations, who also rely upon informal care and support. Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, USA.

Background: Blood-based biomarkers have emerged as critical tools for detecting Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathologies decades prior to the onset of clinical symptoms. However, research has been slow to realize the enormous potential of blood-based biomarkers to capture multiple pathologies and inter-individual complexities in the biology underlying AD.

Method: We curated a panel of blood-based biomarkers sensitive to multiple aspects of AD pathology, including vascular, neuronal, immune, along with amyloid and tau.

The emerging risks facing humanity have highlighted the need to address and prevent challenges through multilateral preventive strategies. The Mexico-United States (US) border is a region with great biological biodiversity and both countries shared a similar history and intense socioeconomic, and cultural interrelationships. Also, it has an extraordinary ecological contrast, resulting in an enormous biological diversity in a broad Nearctic-Neotropical transition zone.
