Replicate cultures of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae were irradiated with 632.8 nm coherent light from He-Ne lasers at irradiances of 6.5 x 10(15) and 1.0 x 10(16) photons s-1 cm-2. Irradiation periods ranged from 0 to 652 min, and cultures were grown until well into the exponential phase. Unirradiated control cultures were grown alongside the irradiated cultures under otherwise identical conditions. The extents of growth in the control and irradiated cultures were compared spectrophotometrically at the end of each experiment. Contrary to the expectations of Karu et al. (e.g. Karu, 1988, Lasers Life Sci. 2, 53-74) no growth enhancement was found in the irradiated cultures, but a mild inhibitory effect was observed.

: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of substrate - polycaprolactone (PCL)-based porous membrane modified with rosmarinic acid (RA), (PCL-RA) and to determine the optimal values of low field laser irradiation (LLLT) as stimulators of biological response of RAW 264.7 macrophages. : The porous polymer membrane was obtained by the phase inversion method, the addition of rosmarinic acid was 1%wt.

The purpose of this study was to examine how low-energy LED red light influences the early to middle stage of osteogenic differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) via the ERK5 signaling pathway. METHODS: PDLSCs were extracted from periodontal membrane tissue using enzymatic digestion. At three time points of 7, 10, and 14 days after irradiation with 5J/cm LED red light, the expression levels of early to middle-stage osteogenic-related genes ALP, Col-1, BSP, and OPN were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR) in both control and osteogenesis experimental groups.

This article presents new data on the integrated use of colloidal solutions of nanoparticles and low-intensity laser radiation on the biosynthetic activity of the medicinal mushroom . Traditional mycological methods, colloidal solutions of biogenic metals, and unique photobiological methods have also been used. It was found that colloidal solutions of nanoparticles of all metals used increased the growth characteristics of (55-60%), while irradiation of the fungal inoculum with laser light in a medium with nanoparticles reduced the growth activity of mycelia by 12.

Background/purpose: Dual-cure resin-cements are used for various dental restorations. However, whether the curing modes of these resin-cements influence gingival inflammation remains unclear. Hence, herein, we evaluated the effects of dual-cure resin-cement curing modes on gingival cytotoxicity and inflammatory responses.
