The results of 111 acute below-knee amputations in war wounded were reviewed. The majority of the patients were wounded by exploding mines. The amputation stumps were not closed primarily but secondarily after an average of 6.4 days. Reamputation above the knee was necessary in only one case of wound sepsis. After delayed primary closure 84% of the stumps healed without problems. The best results were obtained when the stump closure was performed within 1 week after the amputation. No cases of gas gangrene or tetanus were encountered.

Background: Patient safety is important in daily anesthesia practices, and providing deep anesthesia is difficult. Current debates on the optimal anesthetic agents highlight the need for safer alternatives. This study was justified by the need for safer and more effective anesthetic protocols for outpatient hysteroscopic procedures, particularly those conducted outside the operating room.

The presence of an aberrant right hepatic artery (a-RHA) could influence the oncological and postoperative outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). A comparative study was conducted, including patients who underwent PD with a-RHA or with normal RHA anatomy. The primary endpoints were R1 resection in all margins (pancreatic, anterior, posterior, superior mesenteric artery, and portal groove), overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS).

Purpose: Many breast centers are unable to provide immediate results at the time of screening mammography which results in delayed patient care. Implementing artificial intelligence (AI) could identify patients who may have breast cancer and accelerate the time to diagnostic imaging and biopsy diagnosis.
Methods: In this prospective randomized, unblinded, controlled implementation study we enrolled 1000 screening participants between March 2021 and May 2022.

Introduction: A significant portion of posterior urethral valve patients continue to progress to end stage renal disease despite improvements in medical care. Socioeconomic status has been connected to various healthcare outcomes but has not been evaluated in relation to longitudinal outcomes of posterior urethral valves.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of socioeconomic status on the progression to renal failure among patients with posterior urethral valves.

Background And Objectives: Primary care is often the first point of contact for patients with cognitive complaints, making initial cognitive screening an essential step to avoid delays in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD) at an early stage. We developed MemScreen, a self-administered smartphone application that assesses overall cognition and verbal memory, and evaluated its ability to detect mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in both general and clinical populations.
Methods: We conducted two validation cohort studies: (1) UK-based Whitehall II cohort study (13th wave, 2018-2022) involving a general population (MCI defined by poor performance on a global cognitive score), and (2) five French memory clinics involving patients without dementia (amnestic MCI defined by the Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test).
