Pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated with chronic lung disease (CLD) is both common and underrecognised. The presence of PH in the setting of lung disease has been consistently shown to be associated with worse outcomes. Recent epidemiological studies have advanced understanding of the heterogeneity of this patient population and shown that defining both the specific type of CLD as well as the severity of PH ( deeper phenotyping) is necessary to inform natural history and prognosis.

Background: Limited data from prospective studies suggest that higher dietary intake of long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCn3PUFA), which hold anti-inflammatory properties, may reduce endometrial cancer risk; particularly among certain subgroups characterized by body mass and tumor pathology.
Materials And Methods: Data from 12 prospective cohort studies participating in the Epidemiology of Endometrial Cancer Consortium were harmonized as nested case-control studies, including 7268 endometrial cancer cases and 26,133 controls. Habitual diet was assessed by food frequency questionnaire, from which fatty acid intakes were estimated.

Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) is a clinically defined syndrome based on the physician's assessment of a patient's maldigestion. However, current clinical definitions are inadequate in determining (1) the threshold of reduced pancreatic digestive enzyme secretion that determines "pancreatic insufficiency" in an individual patient; (2) the role of pancreatic function tests; (3) effects of differing metabolic needs, nutrition intake, and intestinal function/adaptation (4) when pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy is needed; and (5) how to monitor and titrate multiple therapies. Experts and key opinion leaders were invited to to discuss and help clarify mechanistic issues critical to defining EPI and to address misconceptions and barriers limiting advancements in patient care.

In celebration of the centenary of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad, India (1918-2018), a symposium highlighted the progress in nutrition knowledge made over the century, as well as major gaps in implementation of that knowledge. Brain famine caused by a shortage of nutrients required for perinatal brain development has unfortunately become a global reality, even as protein-calorie famine was largely averted by the development of high yield crops. While malnutrition remains widespread, the neglect of global food policies that support brain development and maintenance are most alarming.

Recent research has shed light on the cellular and molecular functions of bioactive lipids that go far beyond what was known about their role as dietary lipids. Bioactive lipids regulate inflammation and its resolution as signaling molecules. Genetic studies have identified key factors that can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome through their effects on lipogenesis.
