The insular cortex (IC) processes various sensory information, including nociception, from the trigeminal region. Repetitive nociceptive inputs from the orofacial area induce plastic changes in the IC. Parvalbumin-immunopositive neurons (PVNs) project to excitatory neurons (pyramidal neurons [PNs]), whose inputs strongly suppress the activities of PNs.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is increasingly recognized as a whole-organ disease predominantly affecting the elderly, characterized by typical alterations in subchondral bone and cartilage, along with recurrent synovial inflammation. Despite the availability of various therapeutics and medications, a complete resolution of OA remains elusive. In this study, novel functional hydrogels are developed by integrating natural bioactive molecules for OA treatment.

Purpose: Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IIRI) occurs as a result of temporary blood flow interruption, leading to tissue damage upon reperfusion. Oxidative stress plays a critical role in this process, instigating inflammation and cell death. Identifying and characterizing genes associated with the oxidative stress response can offer valuable insights into potential therapeutic targets for managing IIRI.
