Aim: Exclusion of polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM) from the diagnostic criteria for adolescent polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has been proposed. We analyzed the profiles of adolescent women with suspected PCOS based on the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (JSOG) diagnostic and Rotterdam criteria, excluding those with PCOM.
Methods: Thirteen- to twenty-one-year-old women with suspected or confirmed diagnosis of PCOS according to the JSOG and Rotterdam criteria were included in this study.

The clinical benefit of adjuvant intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy is controversial in immunocompromised patients with severe varicella. A twenty-one-year-old woman who had received a kidney transplant one year earlier presented with fever and generalized rash for 5 days. Initial immunoglobulin M (IgM) and IgG for varicella zoster virus (VZV) were negative; however, the patient was diagnosed with varicella with fulminant hepatitis because VZV-specific PCR from skin vesicles and blood was positive.

Case: We present the case of a twenty-one-year-old woman with a traumatic left leg amputation, substantial proximal skin degloving, and an ipsilateral femoral fracture treated with revision amputation distal to the fracture site and retrograde femoral nailing through the amputation site.
Conclusion: A short retrograde femoral nail is a surgical option to fix a femoral shaft fracture proximal to a traumatic amputation in order to preserve limb length for effective prosthetic fit and ambulation.
