Larch wood, a prevalent cultivation medium for , has yet to be scrutinized concerning the differential impacts of sterilized and non-sterilized substrates on the growth and development of this fungus. Our present investigation sought to elucidate these effects in a forest-like environment. After larch wood segments were sun-dried, they were divided into two groups; one group was bagged and autoclaved, while the other group was bagged without any treatment.

Multivariate Approaches Boosting Lithium-Mediated Ammonia Electrosynthesis in Different Electrolytes.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24, Torino, 10129, Italy.

Ammonia electrosynthesis through the lithium-mediated approach has recently reached promising results towards high activity and selectivity in aprotic media, reaching high Faradaic efficiency (FE) values and NH production rates. To fasten the comprehension and optimization of the complex lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction system, for the first time a multivariate approach is proposed as a powerful tool to reduce the number of experiments in comparison with the classical one-factor-at-a-time approach. Doehlert design and surface response methodology are employed to optimize the electrolyte composition for a batch autoclaved cell.

The physicochemical properties of emulsions based on poloxamers (triblock copolymers of a hydrophobic polyoxypropylene chain and two hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chains) depend on the composition and preparation method. This study examined the impact of poloxamer P188 concentration, autoclaving mode, heating, and salt presence on the viscosity, particle size distribution, and morphology of particles using viscometric analysis, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). It was shown that sample preparation affects the particle size and morphology but not the chemical composition of P188.

Filament winding is a widely used out-of-autoclave manufacturing technique for producing continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites. This study focuses on optimizing key filament winding process parameters, including heater temperature, roller pressure, and winding speed, to produce thermoplastic composites. Using Box-Behnken response surface methodology (RSM), the study investigates the effects of these parameters on the compressive load of glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene (GF/PP) and polyphenylene sulfide (GF/PPS) composite cylinders.

This study examines the impact of the complex microbiota from long-term fermented kimchi, used as a backslop, on fermentation dynamics. The fermentation was conducted with autoclaved (group A) and non-autoclaved (NA) starter cultures. Bacterial and fungal communities were analyzed with 16S rRNA gene V4 and ITS2 region, respectively, and metabolites were profiled using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
