Ubiquinated cytoplasmic inclusions are a characteristic feature of the anterior horn cell pathology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The underlying abnormality leading to the production of these inclusions in this neurodegenerative motor system disease is unknown. Despite the application of a wide range of histochemical and immunocytochemical techniques we have been unable to identify a core constituent protein in these intraneuronal inclusions. A novel approach to this problem is required.

: Cell block is an indispensable supplement in the practice of cytopathology. The diagnostic utility of cytology specimens is significantly impacted by the capacity to generate sufficient cell blocks obtained from concentrated fluid samples or fine-needle aspiration specimens after routine processing. This routine processing involves getting directed passes to produce a cell block, especially if the cytopathologist believes additional immunocytochemical stains and/or molecular studies would be required.

The galls can offer shelter, protection, and an adequate diet for the gall-inducing organisms. Herein, we evaluated the structure of Manihot esculenta leaves and galls induced by Iatrophobia brasiliensis in order to identify metabolic and cell wall composition changes. We expected to find a complex gall with high primary metabolism in a typical nutritive tissue.

Background: MicroRNA (miRNA) expression in the brain is altered in neurodegenerative diseases. Recent studies demonstrated that selected miRNAs conventionally regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level can act extracellularly as signaling molecules. The identity of miRNA species serving as membrane receptor ligands involved in neuronal apoptosis in the central nervous system (CNS), as well as the miRNAs' sequence and structure required for this mode of action remained largely unresolved.

Super-resolution microscopy (SRM) has been widely adopted to probe molecular distribution at excitatory synapses. We present an SRM paradigm to evaluate the nanoscale organization heterogeneity between neuronal subcompartments. Using mouse hippocampal neurons, we describe the identification of the morphological characteristics of nanodomains within functional zones of a single excitatory synapse.
