The high-density lipoprotein binding protein (HDLbp) is a 110-kDa protein that specifically binds HDL molecules and may function in the removal of excess cellular cholesterol. As part of an effort to study the function of the protein and its possible role in cholesterol transport, we report the localization of the gene for HDLbp, designated HDLBP, to human chromosome 2q37 using analysis of somatic cell hybrids and in situ hybridization.

Localized prostate cancer can be cured by radiation or surgery, but advanced prostate cancer continues to be a clinical challenge. Altered alternative polyadenylation occurs in numerous cancers and can downregulate tumor-suppressor genes and upregulate oncogenes. We found that the cleavage and polyadenylation specificity factor (CPSF) complex factor CPSF1 is upregulated in patients with advanced prostate cancer, with high CPSF1 expression correlating with worse progression-free survival.

The common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plays a significant economic and social role in Brazil. However, the national average yield remains relatively low, largely because most bean cultivation is undertaken by small-scale farmers.

A 29-year-old Spanish Caucasian man, without relevant family history, was attended in our unit due to an undiagnosed skeletal dysplasia associated with low bone mass and several fragility fractures throughout his childhood and adolescence. DXA exams throughout his life showed very low BMD values; currently, his spinal and femoral neck T-scores were - 4.3 and - 3.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive lung disease characterized by repetitive alveolar injuries with excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. A crucial need in understanding IPF pathogenesis is identifying cell types associated with histopathological regions, particularly local fibrosis centers known as fibroblast foci. To address this, we integrated published spatial transcriptomics and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) transcriptomics and adopted the Query method and the Overlap method to determine cell type enrichments in histopathological regions.

Unlabelled: Focal adhesions and their dynamic nature are essential for various physiological processes, including the formation of neurites, synaptic function and plasticity. Alterations in these processes have been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore the impact of pharmacological treatments used for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia on the expression of genes involved in the focal adhesion pathway, addressing a gap in understanding the interaction between medication effects and disease pathophysiology.
