Ultrasound tomography (UT) was used for visualization of the elbow and knee joints in 52 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 28 healthy persons. The technique is described. Results were compared with data of roentgenological and scintigraphic examinations. It is shown that UT permits to visualize directly the substrate of inflammation and its severity. UT has advantages over roentgenography and scintigraphy in detecting patients with rheumatoid arthritis with emphasis of the inflammatory changes of the periarticular soft tissues, periarticular cysts, exudation in the articular cavity, destructions of intraarticular cartilage.

Background: According to the conventional postoperative procedure after total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) for end-stage osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), mobilization and weight-bearing are currently started after completion of wound healing. Recently, an early rehabilitation program after cemented TAA with a modified anterolateral approach has been attempted because this approach could provide stable wound healing. To investigate the possibility of expediting rehabilitation, this study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and universality of an early rehabilitation program after cemented TAA using a modified anterolateral approach, even when a surgeon was completely changed.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are multisystemic autoimmune disorders that can present with renal manifestations. Overlapping cases of these diseases are extremely rare and present both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report the case of a 70-year-old male with a history of autoimmune pancreatitis, who was admitted with fatigue, weight loss, and worsening kidney function.

Objectives: To identify factors associated with probable sarcopenia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Methods: Probable sarcopenia was diagnosed using the SARC-F questionnaire. Patients with difficult-to-treat RA (D2T-RA) were defined as those with a history of using ≥2 biological/targeted synthetic (b/ts) disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARDs) who had moderate or high disease activity.

Backgrounds And Aims: Preclinical studies suggest that a triglyceride (TG)-independent proinflammatory action of apolipoprotein C-III (apoCIII) exists. We aimed to investigate the relationship between circulating apoCIII levels and subclinical inflammation markers across different cohorts with distinctive inflammatory patterns: patients with metabolic disorders (MDs), patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and controls. Specifically, we assessed the associations of apoCIII with acute inflammation biomarkers (e.

Background: Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a chronic disabling musculoskeletal condition of unknown aetiology characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain, extreme fatigue, mood disturbance, impaired cognition, and lack of refreshing sleep. Middle East pain syndrome (MEPS) is a newly described pollution-induced syndrome of hyperparathyroidism and fibromyalgia mimicking rheumatoid arthritis, characterized by the radiological presence of spur-like excrescences in terminal phalanges. This study aimed to explore the inflammatory nature of Middle East pain and Fibromyalgia syndromes.
