A simple gag has been designed and tested which enables the intragastric intubation of the guinea pig by one person without the use of sedation or light anaesthesia. The system described was used successfully for the daily dosing of materials to 7 guinea-pigs for 14 days without discomfort, aspiration or any injury to the upper gastro-intestinal tract.

We report the development of peptide-glycosaminoglycan hydrogels as injectable biomaterials for load-bearing soft tissue repair. The hydrogels are injectable as a liquid for clinical delivery, rapidly form a gel , and mimic the osmotic swelling behaviour of natural tissue. We used a new model to demonstrate their application as a nucleus augmentation material for the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration.

Purpose: The study explored the enhanced skin moisturizing capabilities and moisture retention effects achieved by forming a polyion complex using sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG), specifically chondroitin sulfate (CS), and amino acids (AA) such as glutamine (Q) and arginine (R). The overall hydration effect of this CS-AA complex was examined.
Methods: After analyzing the CS-AA polyion complex structure using spectroscopic methods, the ex vivo moisture retention ability was assessed under dry conditions using porcine skin samples.
