Forty-six newborn babies (11 macrosomic, 11 small-for-dates and 24 of normal weight) have been prospectively studied. The levels of C-peptide in the umbilical blood were determined and the results were statistically analyzed for relationships to several perinatal variables of the mother, newborn and placenta. A positive correlation between C-peptide levels and neonatal weight, newborn ponderal index and maternal weight-gain during gestation were observed. Some other variables strongly related to neonatal infant weight (maternal weight, net placental weight and placental volume) were independent of C-peptide levels.

Purpose: Imeglimin is a novel oral antidiabetic agent that improves glucose tolerance. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of combining imeglimin with dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP-4i), the most frequently prescribed first-line treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in Japan, to improve glycemic control.

Patients And Methods: Eleven patients with T2D treated with DPP-4i alone (6.

Objective: In the Diabetes Virus Detection and Intervention trial, antiviral treatment with pleconaril and ribavirin decreased the decline, compared with placebo, in endogenous C-peptide 1 year after diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in children and adolescents. This article reports the results 2 and 3 years after diagnosis.

Research Design And Methods: This was a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled (1:1) trial of 96 children and adolescents aged 6-15.

Objectives: C-peptide is an equimolar by-product of insulin biosynthesis. It is used clinically to assess insulin secretion and differentiate types of diabetes. However, the lack of standardization across assays limits its broader application.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of serum C-peptide levels in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2DM) on the 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).

Patients And Methods: A total of 1923 patients with newly diagnosed T2DM were selected and categorized into four groups based on the interquartile range of fasting C-peptide (FCP) levels: Q1 group (FCP≤0.568 ng/mL), Q2 group (0.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex condition characterised by the interaction between insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction. C-peptide, a key biomarker of endogenous insulin secretion, has a role in diagnosing type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, its utility in T2D has not been extensively studied.
