We report a comparison between G6PD enzyme activities in lysates from GdA and GdB Nigerian healthy males. We confirm the previously reported higher mean activity of G6PD B. An analysis of the enzyme activity variation has been performed: the relative amount of variation found to be associated with this polymorphism is about 8%. A comparison has been made with other genetic polymorphisms.

Goniodomin A (GDA, ) is a phycotoxin produced by at least four species of dinoflagellates that are found globally in brackish estuaries and lagoons. It is a linear polyketide with six oxygen heterocyclic rings that is cyclized into a macrocyclic structure via lactone formation. Two of the oxygen heterocycles in comprise a spiro-bis-pyran, whereas goniodomin B (GDB) contains a 2,7-dioxabicyclo[3.

Background: Patients with acute myocarditis (AM) are at increased risk of adverse cardiac events after the index episode. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) detected by cardiovascular magnetic resonance in patients with AM plays an important diagnostic role, but its prognostic significance remains unresolved. This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to assess the prognostic implications of cardiovascular magnetic resonance-derived LGE in patients with AM.

During a survey of the production of goniodomin A (GDA) by Alexandrium pseudogonyaulax in Danish coastal waters, Krock et al. (2018) obtained mass spectral evidence for the presence of a truncated congener, herein termed GD754, having a molecular weight 14 Da lower than GDA and assigned it as goniodomin B (GDB). An erroneous structure of GDB involving deletion of a methylene group between rings B and D had previously been reported by Espiña et al.

Background: Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is an important prognostic marker in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and an extent >15% it is associated with high risk of sudden cardiac death. We proposed a novel method, the LGE-dispersion mapping, to assess heterogeneity of scar, and evaluated its prognostic role in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Methods: One hundred eighty-three patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and a low- or intermediate 5-year risk of sudden cardiac death underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop a method to determine hepatic and renal clearance of the 2 diastereoisomers (Gd-A, Gd-B) of Gd-EOB-DTPA separately.
Materials And Methods: Between July 2017 and February 2018, 41 patients with hepatic disease were prospectively included. For each patient, 1 mL of iopromide (to determine glomerular filtration rate [GFR]) was coadministered with Gd-EOB-DTPA (Gd-A and Gd-B; 65:35 wt/wt).
