The authors describe the development of modern psychiatric rehabilitation, from its early association with occupational therapy to its present state as a discipline with an armamentarium of treatment strategies. Psychiatric rehabilitation addresses difficulties in three domains of patients' lives: clinical status, functional status, and quality of life. The authors suggest that the acceptance of rehabilitation as a separate discipline has been slow due to boundary conflicts between these domains and between the disciplines that traditionally represent them. The authors call for a more central role for rehabilitation, which integrates treatment in the three domains and uses group methods to formulate plans and enhance client involvement.

Up to 45% of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) experience impulse control disorders (ICDs), characterized by a loss of voluntary control over impulses, drives or temptations. This study aimed to investigate whether previously identified genetic and psychiatric risk factors interact towards the development of ICDs in PD. Background: Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India (GOI) in 2018 to cover the in-patient (IP) treatment expenditures, including mental illness treatment expenditures, for 500 million Indians. AB-PMJAY pays 100% of treatment expenditures for persons below the poverty line (BPL) and 30% for people above the poverty line (APL). Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (ABAK) trust implements this scheme in Karnataka, a southern Indian state.

The locus coeruleus (LC), as the primary source of norepinephrine (NE) in the brain, is central to modulating cognitive and behavioral processes. This review synthesizes recent findings to provide a comprehensive understanding of the LC-NE system, highlighting its molecular diversity, neurophysiological properties, and role in various brain functions. We discuss the heterogeneity of LC neurons, their differential responses to sensory stimuli, and the impact of NE on cognitive processes such as attention and memory.
