Three-hundred-seventy-one infertile patients underwent hysteroscopic evaluation. The test was performed in an outpatient setting without any form of anesthesia. A comparison has been made among this technique, the hysterosalpingography and ultrasounds: hysteroscopy showed to be more accurate in the evaluation of intracavitary pathology, because of its capability to obtain a direct view of the uterine cavity. We can evaluate hysteroscopically nature, dimension and localization of the lesions. However HSG remains the best technique for the study of tubal factors of infertility. We think that hysteroscopy should be used besides other diagnostic methods, in order to obtain a better evaluation of the infertile patients.

Male factor accounts for 30-50% of infertility cases and may occur due to congenital anomalies or acquired disorders. In such infertility cases where a limited number of mature sperm is produced, a solution is offered to patients with ART applications; however, these methods are inadequate in patients with germ cell aplasia due to damaged microenvironment. Since monolayer cell culture and static culture conditions do not provide the physical conditions of the 3D microenvironment, they have a limited effect on ensuring the execution of in vitro spermatogenesis properly.

Article Synopsis
  • Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare genetic disorder linked to chronic respiratory issues, infertility, and problems with body asymmetry, primarily caused by mutations in the CCDC39 and CCDC40 genes.
  • Researchers used advanced techniques to investigate how these genetic variants impact cellular functions beyond just causing cilia to stop moving.
  • They discovered that the absence of CCDC39/CCDC40 creates a significant loss of over 90 ciliary structural proteins, leading to cilia dysfunction and other cellular issues, suggesting that gene therapy could potentially offer a new treatment strategy for PCD.
