The aim of the paper was to evaluate intraocular pressure changes that follow the implantation of posterior intraocular lens. In two examined groups of patients (I group--sulcus ciliaris, II group--intracapsular implantation) the decrease of average intraocular pressure values was observed in the early days after surgery, then during 3 months, it gradually returned to the initial values. This decrease was less marked in the first group of patients. Long-term observation showed the stabilization of intraocular pressure at a level similar to the mean values before surgery.

Coats disease is a rare abnormality characterized with retinal telangiectasia and aneurysms with retinal exudation, most often seen in young males and usually affecting only one eye. A 12-year-old boy came in with a three-month history of vision loss and pain in his right eye, alongside progressively worsening blurred vision over the last year. His visual acuity was reduced to only light perception in the right eye, while his left eye maintained 5/5 vision.

Background: The post-operative evaluation of trabeculectomy blebs has traditionally relied on subjective clinical grading systems performed at the slit-lamp. This study explores the use of swept source anterior-segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) to objectively measure bleb internal reflectivity and morphology, and to distinguish blebs with surgical success vs. failure.

Although smart contact lenses have demonstrated great potential in theranostics, there remain critical challenges and opportunities in their commercial development. In this Perspective, the current status and capability of smart theranostic contact lenses are highlighted, focusing on their application as sensing systems for detecting biomarkers such as glucose, intraocular pressure (IOP), and inflammatory cytokines, and as drug delivery systems (DDS) for precise and controlled therapy. Additionally, key challenges associated with clinical development and commercialization of smart theranostic contact lenses are discussed, to optimize diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

Purpose: To investigate the heritability of genetic influence on macular choroidal vascularity index (CVI).
Methods: Total choroidal area (TCA), luminal area (LA), and CVI was measured using horizontal scan of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography with enhanced depth imaging in the 373 healthy twin participants. Characteristics of the participants were investigated, including age, sex, axial length, hypertension, diabetes, drinking habits, and smoking status.

Significance: Previous evidence showed that transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) inhibition was protective of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss after chronic intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation in young animals. However, the role of TRPV4 in mechanosensing IOP changes in the aging eye is not well understood.
Purpose: This study compared the recovery of retinal function and structure after acute IOP elevation in 3- and 12-month-old mouse eyes with and without TRPV4 inhibition.
