The authors take into account two different types of stationary, persistent and direction-changing nystagmus (ny): 1) the horizontal bidirectional ny (nyOB), apogeotropic (nyOBA) and geotropic (nyOBG); 2) the tridirectional apogeotropic ny (nyAT). The nyOBA was identified in experimental studies in 1973 but no other studies on the subject have been published since then. In existing literature the nyOBG has been reported in only one paper, whereas the nyAT has not yet been studied at all.

The hip joint is the most common skeletal site for tuberculous disease, aside from vertebrae. Eight patients underwent MR investigations. In four cases (group A) there was suspicion of hip tuberculosis on the basis of clinical and laboratory findings, whereas the other 4 patients (group B) were known to suffer from hip tuberculosis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFEchotomographic examinations were performed in 64 patients suffering from thoracic wall, pleural, pulmonary and mediastinal diseases, after preliminary examinations using standard radiographic techniques. The value of echography in the detection and evaluation of the location and extent of the lesion is assessed. Particular stress is placed on the physical difficulties involved in the detection and correct evaluation of the relationship with the adjacent organs.

Only 6 cases were amenable to exeresis completed by peripheral (4 cases) or intra-arterial (2 cases) chemotherapy. In addition to a semeiological study, the usefulness of various imaging techniques (ultrasound, CT, angiography) is discussed.
