Studies of sex differences in first admission age for inpatients in Missouri public psychiatric hospitals were examined for the incidence of major affective illness and dysthymia. Patients diagnosed as schizophrenic were also studied to check for diagnostic comparability. Those males diagnosed as having major affective illness were admitted 3.82 years earlier than females; the differential held up regardless of fifth-digit coding for psychosis. Males diagnosed as dysthymic were admitted 0.98 years earlier than females. Male schizophrenic patients were admitted an average of 7.75 years earlier than females, and the distribution was similar to that reported in a variety of cross-cultural studies.

Background: Younger adults aging with and older adults aging into disability often need support to remain in their homes and communities. However, researchers and policymakers lack sufficient understanding of their differing needs for home and community-based services (HCBS), largely due to limitations in existing data.
Objectives: This study addresses this gap by exploring select HCBS utilization among adults with disability onset before age 60 and those with onset after age 60, focusing on how aging and disability intersect.

Background: Pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism (PA-VTE) seriously threatens maternal health. We aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics, risk factors, treatments, and pregnancy outcomes to better prevent and treat PA-VTE.
Methods: PA-VTE patients were selected from 171,898 women who were registered in the Department of Obstetrics of Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital from January 2014 to August 2023 and delivered to calculate the incidence.

Although microtubule inhibitors are generally used in advanced stages, they provide the opportunity to prolong survival as an alternative when medical oncologists have difficulty finding options in their patients, who typically have a poor prognosis and most of whom are unresponsive to treatment. For this reason, we wanted to investigate the effect of ixabepilone treatment on survival in earlier metastatic lines. Our study also examined the frequency of side effects and survival differences in patients whose dose was reduced or whose treatment was discontinued.

Introduction: Retinal capillary hemangioma (RCH) is a benign vascular hamartoma that can occur sporadically or as a manifestation of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. If left untreated, it results in adverse ocular complications depending on its location and eventual visual loss.
Case Presentation: We present a 50-year-old man who was a known case of VHL with history of left eye vision loss in the left eye at the age of 30 years.

The challenge of reconstructing air temperature for environmental applications is to accurately estimate past exposures even where monitoring is sparse. We present XGBoost-IDW Synthesis for air temperature (XIS-Temperature), a high-resolution machine-learning model for daily minimum, mean, and maximum air temperature, covering the contiguous US from 2003 through 2023. XIS uses remote sensing (land surface temperature and vegetation) along with a parsimonious set of additional predictors to make predictions at arbitrary points, allowing the estimation of address-level exposures.
