Published: January 1994

The author discusses some ideas concerning the sharing of scientific informations. The fundamental goal of the latter is to serve the readers as perfectly as possible. A physician of research ambitions may valuable contribute to the progress of applied sciences but this must not jeopardize the medical care of the patients. Reading relevant literature is one of the prime obligations of all doctors. The author raises some dilemmas and question concerning how to write publications while he attempts to clarify matters. He emphasizes that the importance of correctness of a publication is second to none. The problem of fragmentation and that of "double publication" is also briefly discussed. The author elaborates on how to identify the co-authors and the sequence they appear in the publication. He provides some hands- on advice as to the concise language and abbreviations. He enters the list for the qualitative improvement rather than quantitative increase of publications in Hungary.

Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) is a powerful technique used to investigate the conformational preferences of biosystems, and molecular simulations have emerged as an ideal complement to FRET due to their ability to provide structural models that can be compared with experiments. This synergy is however hampered by the approximations underlying Förster theory regarding the electronic coupling between the participating dyes: a dipole-dipole term attenuated by a simple dielectric screening factor 1/ that depends on the refractive index of the medium. Whereas the limits of the dipole approximation are well-known, detailed insights on how environment effects deviate from the 1/ assumption and modify the distance dependence that characterizes FRET as a spectroscopic ruler are still not well understood, especially in biosystems characterized by significant structural disorder.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can cause severe and sometimes long-standing immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Enhanced immune activation from ICI can theoretically result in osteoclast activation, bone loss and fracture. The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence rates of major osteoporotic fractures (MOFs) in patients with melanoma treated with ICI.

Objective: To examine the current landscape of public health functions and the level of cognition among medical staff across various medical institutions in Jiangsu Province, ultimately aiming to provide a theoretical framework for constructing a hospital public health work model under the integrated medical and defense system.

Methods: A mixed-methods approach involving questionnaires and semi-structured interviews was employed to assess the establishment and operational status of public health departments within medical institutions, staffing scenarios, comprehension of public health tasks, and the degree of emphasis placed on them.

Results: Our findings reveal that 70.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, science communication played a crucial role in disseminating accurate information and promoting scientific literacy among the public. However, the rise of anti-intellectualism on social media platforms has posed significant challenges to science, scientists, and science communication, hindering effective public engagement with scientific affairs. This study aims to explore the mechanisms through which anti-intellectualism impacts science communication on social media platforms from the perspective of communication effect theory.

Electron paramagnetic resonance and photoluminescence study on local structure of Gd ions in Gd-doped CaF crystals.

RSC Adv

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructure, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai 201899 China.

Employing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and excitation and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, changes of the local structure of Gd ions were investigated for the CaF crystals containing 0.00015, 0.17, 1.
