Ethylene glycol (C₂H₆O₂), a toxic alcohol commonly found in automotive antifreeze, de-icing solutions, and industrial coolants, can cause severe toxicity when ingested. Due to its sweet taste, it is often consumed accidentally or intentionally, leading to life-threatening consequences such as metabolic acidosis, acute kidney injury (AKI), and mortality. Prompt diagnosis and early treatment with antidotes such as fomepizole or ethanol, combined with hemodialysis, are essential in preventing severe outcomes.

Aberrant anatomical variation of the vertebral artery (VA) from an internal carotid artery (ICA) is considered a rare finding. The incidence of this phenomenon can lead to patients suffering from posterior circulation neurological deficit if the ICA becomes significantly diseased. VA atypical anatomical origin is considered one of the rare pathologies, not only precipitating neurovascular incidents but equally leading to severe difficulty in VA dissection and surgical exposure, especially in carotid artery procedures.

Applications of MR Finger printing derived T1 and T2 values in Adult brain: A Systematic review.

F1000Res

January 2025

Department of Medical Imaging Technology, Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, 576104, India.

Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential for brain imaging, but conventional methods rely on qualitative contrast, are time-intensive, and prone to variability. Magnetic resonance finger printing (MRF) addresses these limitations by enabling fast, simultaneous mapping of multiple tissue properties like T1, T2. Using dynamic acquisition parameters and a precomputed signal dictionary, MRF provides robust, qualitative maps, improving diagnostic precision and expanding clinical and research applications in brain imaging.

Humanized anti-CD11d monoclonal antibodies suitable for basic research and therapeutic applications.

Antib Ther

January 2025

Department of Microbiology & Immunology and Robarts Research Institute, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario N6A 5B7, Canada.

Background: Immunomodulatory agents targeting the CD11d/CD18 integrin are in development for the treatment of several pathophysiologies including neurotrauma, sepsis, and atherosclerosis. Murine anti-human CD11d therapeutic antibodies have successfully improved neurological and behavioral recovery in rodent neurotrauma models. Here, we present the progression of CD11d-targeted agents with the development of humanized anti-CD11d monoclonal antibodies.
