The early diagnosis of loosening is very important, since it provides a chance to protect the bone structure by means of a good postrevision outcome. Although the delayed stage of infected loosenings can easily be detected by clinical presentations, significant laboratory data and plain X-rays, diagnosis becomes a problem in the early stage. In this study the value of Tc-99m Nanocolloid (NCol) scintigraphy in the diagnosis of infected loosenings was evaluated in 28 patients with painful total hip arthroplasty and 10 controls without any complaint after total hip arthroplasty, by comparing this method with laboratory data, plain X-rays and 3-phase Tc-99m methylene diphosphonate (MDP) scintigraphy. Tc-99m NCol scintigraphy was found out to be a very valuable method with 100% sensitivity, 84% specificity in the diagnosis of infected prosthesis and it was superior to laboratory data, plain X-rays and 3-phase Tc-99m MDP scintigraphy, but requires to be evaluated in conjunction with plain X-rays for more information and in order to prevent false positive results.

Introduction This study aimed to determine the characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia caused by the wild type and the alpha variant in patients. This study included patients with COVID-19 admitted to Fukui General Hospital between October 31, 2020, and April 30, 2021. Methods Pneumonia occurrence rate, chest X-ray, and computed tomography (CT) findings were evaluated by two radiologists.

This prospective, observational cohort study compares the clinical and radiographic outcomes of the modified Weaver and Dunn (WD) technique with the newer, anatomical double-button plus tendon allograft technique (DB), and the suture anchor repair plus tendon allograft (SA). The study cohort includes 53 patients, who underwent surgery for acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation Rockwood type 3, 4 and 5. Patient-reported outcome scores and clinical results, including Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH), the Subjective Shoulder Value (SSV), the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Constant score (CS) results as well as loss of reduction rates on plain radiographs were compared.

Nutritional status is associated with prognosis in a variety of cancers. Studies analyzing the association between the measurements of skeletal muscle and adipose tissue obtained from Computerized Tomography (CT) images at the time of diagnosis of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and overall survival (OS) are relatively few. Data from 425 patients diagnosed with advanced NSCLC between January 2016 and December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed, with an average follow-up of 15.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the incidence of radiological adjacent segment disease (R-ASD) at L3/4 between patients with L4/5 degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) who underwent L4/5 posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) and those who underwent microscopic bilateral decompression via a unilateral approach (MBDU) at L4/5. Our ultimate goal was to distinguish the course of natural lumbar degeneration from fusion-related degeneration while eliminating L4/5 decompression as a confounder.

Methods: Ninety patients with L4/5 DS who underwent L4/5 PLIF (n = 53) or MBDU (n = 37) and were followed for at least 5 years were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: Hemifacial microsomia (HFM) presentation includes gross distorted ramus, malposition temporomandibular joint, small glenoid fossa, distorted condyle and notch, malformed orbit, cupping ear or absent external ear, and facial nerve palsy. HFM is the second most prevalent congenital deformity of the face, with little literature from the South African population. This retrospective study elucidated the demographic characteristics and clinical presentations of HFM patients in a select South African population and compared it to the literature.
