The content of lectins and activity of glycosidases have been estimated in seeds and vegetative organs of 5 strains of plants of Anthurium genus. In seeds of all the investigated strains lectins were detected with the selectivity toward the N-acetyl-galactosamine (minimal inhibitory concentration of sugar was 0.1-0.2 mM) and an anti-A blood group specificity. Lectins of Anthuriums selectively bound O-type glycosidic chains and revealed high affinity toward mucins (salivary or ovary cysts origin). Lectins were not detected in vegetative parts of Anthuriums. In seeds of plants the following glycosidases were detected in the diminishing activity order: alpha-galactosidase, alpha-mannosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucosaminidase.

Epiphytes develop anatomical features to improve efficiency of the uptake of water and nutrients, such as absorptive foliar scales or a velamen radicum. Despite substantial studies on the occurrence, morphology, development and phylogeny of the velamen, most of the available literature is focused on Orchidaceae, making current knowledge on velamen clearly biased. A recent publication firmly established that velamina are common in Anthurium species.

The ability of indoor plants to purify benzene pollution is the basic basis for the selection of plants for ecological remediation of indoor benzene pollution. In this study, the purification rate and the purification amount per unit leaf area of 13 test plants at three benzene concentrations were determined by indoor fumigation experiments, and the benzene absorption and purification abilityability of indoor plants were comprehensively evaluated. The results showed that (1) there was a significant correlation between benzene concentration and purification rate and purification amount per unit leaf area.

and are closely related genera in the family Lysobacteraceae. In our previous study of aroid-associated bacterial strains, most strains isolated from anthurium and other aroids were reclassified as and other species. However, two strains isolated from and were phylogenetically distant from other strains in the clade and two strains isolated from clustered within the clade.
