Application of the phorbol ester TPA to the back skin of NMRI mice 14 times within a period of 7 weeks causes a stationary hyperplasia, with a corresponding increase in the labelling index of the basal cells from 1% to 14%. By initiation of skin, which has been pretreated with TPA in this way, with the carcinogen DMBA, followed by continued treatment with TPA (initiation-promotion corresponding to the classical Berenblum-Mottram experiment) the tumour yield (papillomas, carcinomas) is very much higher than that obtained using the scheme of the normal Berenblum-Mottram experiment. The preliminary induction of a stationary hyperplasia with high rates of nucleic acid synthesis must be considered an important co-factor in epidermal carcinogenesis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates Guizhi Fuling Formula (GFF) and α-adrenergic receptors (α-AR) using a novel method involving Colicin L7 DNase (CL7) and its immune protein (Im7) for immobilizing α-AR to a column.
  • The immobilization resulted in a stable α-AR column, facilitating the screening of active compounds in GFF, leading to the identification of paeoniflorin, cinnamic acid, and paeonol.
  • Notably, cinnamic acid and paeonol bind to the same site on α-AR as the drug tamsulosin, demonstrating the potential of this method for rapid analysis of functional compounds from

Objective: To investigate the histological properties of microplasma radiofrequency (MPRF) using a stationary tip in different treatment strategies on porcine skin.

Methods: Two Bama miniature pigs received MPRF treatment with two types of stationary tips in eight groups of parameters (power, duration, and pass) on dorsal skin. Skin samples were collected from each treatment zone immediately, at 1 week and 1, 3, and 6 months after treatment.

Bony Hyperplasia Beneath Atrophic Soft Tissue: A Rare Case of En Coup de Sabre and Literature Review.

Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol

August 2023

Department of Plastic Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

In this study, we report a rare case of en coup de sabre with hyperplasia of the left frontal bone beneath skin lesion, which is detected during magnetic resonance imaging screening and preoperative evaluation. A 27-year-old woman with 13-year history of progressive soft tissue depression in the forehead and scalp, and was treated by traditional Chinese herb before the disease went into stationary stage. The patient underwent serial long-pulsed laser treatments and autologous fat grafting with satisfactory outcome.

Purpose: To further enhance understanding of the expanded clinical spectrum of unilateral retinal pigment epithelium dysgenesis (URPED) via numerous imaging modalities including novel markers of highly detailed indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) features.

Methods: Retrospective, observational, case report.

Results: URPED in this patient is expressed as a solitary, flat and pigmented lesion in the posterior pole with RPE hyperplasia and atrophic changes.

Cell membrane chromatography (CMC) is effective and widely used in drug screening, especially for the analysis of complex matrixes. However, it is time-consuming and costly given that cells or animals are employed for activity confirmation, which leads to a large amount of waste being produced if the result is negative. Stepwise frontal analysis is employed to saturate the affinity stationary phase, by using a series of low- to high-concentration solutions which resultantly form a staircase pattern.
