A system of evaluation applied to pediatric residents at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) is presented. Historical precedents; deficiencies and modifications of the system are commented. Also institutional system of evaluation is described, with emphasis in education strategies: teaching-attendance-research. Usefulness of knowledge tests, supervision, and assessment of evaluation, are mentioned. Finally extrainstitutional evaluation strategies are considered.

Sarcoidosis is a complex multisystem inflammatory disease characterized by noncaseating granulomas and variable clinical manifestations, most commonly affecting the lungs, skin, heart, and nervous system. Imaging is central in its diagnosis, staging, and management, providing essential insights into organ involvement and disease activity. Pulmonary manifestations remain the hallmark, with modalities such as high-resolution chest computed tomography (CT) and chest radiography offering critical diagnostic clues.

Background: The development of effective direct-acting antiviral treatment (DAAT) for hepatitis C virus (HCV) has opened the possibility of using HCV+ donors. We aimed to assess the long-term feasibility of lung transplantation using organs from HCV+ donors.
Methods: We used the UNOS database to evaluate adult lung transplant recipients between 2000 and 2023.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting, inherited condition in which a novel class of oral medicine, CFTR modulators, has revolutionised symptoms and health indicators, providing an opportunity to evaluate traditional treatment regimens with the hope of reducing burden. Additionally, there is cautious optimism that life expectancy for people with CF born today could ultimately compare to that of the general population. Given this potential, there is a need and requirement to optimise treatment to balance burden with the best clinical outcomes for each person with CF in an individualised manner.

As global demand for sustainable chemical processes intensifies, seawater, with its vast availability and rich composition, represents a promising resource for advancing green chemical technologies. Seawater can serve as a feedstock or intermediate for producing fuels and chemicals, including hydrogen, chlorine gas and chloride, sodium, magnesium, and carbon-based compounds through specific electrochemical reactions. While extensive studies have been focused on seawater hydrogen production, systematic exploration of its broader electrochemical reactions remains limited.

Novel ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV-C LED at 279 nm) are being investigated for broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity in addition to traditional mercury-lamp 254 nm UV-C systems. The goals of this study were to determine the doses required for hepatitis A virus (a resilient foodborne virus) inactivation in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH = 7.2), apple juice (AJ, pH = 4), and coconut water (CW, pH = 5), when treated with traditional 254 nm UV-C compared to 279 nm UV-C LED.
