Malignant large-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the spleen.

Australas Radiol

Department of Radiology Toa Payoh Hospital, Toa Payoh Rise, Singapore.

Published: November 1993

Primary malignant tumours of the spleen are rare, with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma being the most common. A case of malignant large-cell lymphoma of the spleen in a patient with unexplained splenomegaly, is presented. There are very few previous reports on this condition in the radiological literature. The sonographic, computed tomographic and angiographic findings are described, with a brief review of the literature on this condition. Although there are no specific radiological findings to diagnose this condition, it has to be considered in the differential diagnosis of a solitary lesion in the spleen.

Methotrexate (MTX), an antimetabolite targeting certain autoimmune conditions and various hematologic malignancies, has been associated with iatrogenic lymphoproliferative disease (LPD) primarily of B-cell lineage. Less commonly are T-cell neoplasms where primary skin involvement is considered rare. Three cases were encountered in the medical practice of one of the authors.

TET2-mediated 5-hydroxymethylcytosine of TXNIP promotes cell cycle arrest in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma.

Clin Epigenetics

January 2025

Department of Pathology, Clinical Oncology School of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Cancer Hospital, Fuzhou, China.

Background: 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) modification represents a significant epigenetic modification within DNA, playing a pivotal role in a range of biological processes associated with various types of cancer. The role of 5hmC in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aims to examine the function of 5hmC in the advancement of ALCL.

Methylation status of selected genes in non-small cell lung carcinoma - current knowledge and future perspectives.

December 2024

Department of Clinical and Molecular Pathology and Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic.

DNA methylation is recognized as an early event in cancer initiation and progression. This review aimed to compare the methylation status of promoter regions in selected genes across different histological subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, large cell carcinoma, and the rare but highly aggressive large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC). A comprehensive literature search was conducted in the PubMed database until August 17, 2024, using standardized keywords to identify reports on promoter methylation in NSCLC.

The cholangioblastic variant of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is a distinctive neoplasm that typically affects young women without underlying liver disease. Morphologically, it demonstrates solid, trabecular, and tubulocystic architecture, biphasic small cell-large cell cytology, and immunoreactivity for inhibin, neuroendocrine markers, and biliary but not hepatocellular markers. In 2021, our group identified a characteristic NIPBL::NACC1 gene fusion in cholangioblastic cholangiocarcinoma, and since then ~20 genetically confirmed cases have been reported in the literature.
