The BACTEC PLUS 26 (NR26) (Becton Dickinson, Towson, Md.) high-volume blood culture bottle replaced the less expensive smaller-volume NR6A bottle in our hospital. An audit carried out several months after their introduction revealed that only 17.5% of the NR26 bottles received the required blood volume. Several audits and educational programs were required in order to achieve a compliance rate of > 60%.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) associated with major vasculature tumor extension is considered an advanced stage of disease to which palliative radiotherapy or chemotherapy is proposed. Surgical resection associated with chemotherapy or chemoembolization could be an opportunity to improve overall survival and recurrence-free survival in selected cases in a high-volume hepatobiliary center. Moreover, it has been 25 years since Couinaud described the entity of a posterior liver located behind an axial plane crossing the portal bifurcation.

Finger amputations following complex hand injuries (CHI) pose a significant challenge in hand surgery due to severe tissue trauma and neurovascular damage, necessitating precise arterial repair. While restoring arterial perfusion is critical, it remains unclear whether reconstructing both proper palmar digital arteries is required for optimal outcomes. This study evaluates whether restoring one or both arteries in finger replantation after complex injuries impacts perfusion and overall outcomes.

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) has emerged as a significant adjunctive component in the treatment of high-grade gliomas following the EF-14 trial in 2017. The incorporation of TTFields, alongside cyclic temozolomide therapy, has demonstrated improved patient outcomes when the usage exceeds 18 h per day (75% usage). analysis of the EF-14 trial has demonstrated that therapy usage exceeding 90% is associated with an additional benefit, while rates above 50% have also proven effective in literature.

Background: Concerns have been expressed about the feasibility of laparoscopic right hepatectomy (Lap-RH) after portal vein occlusion (PVO), because of its technical difficulty. The aim of this study is to assess the safety and feasibility of lap-RH after PVO.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data from high-volume HPB centers was performed.

In a first for solid cancers, cellular immunotherapy has entered standard of care in the treatment of patients with metastatic melanoma. The infusion of autologous tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes (TIL) is capable of mediating durable tumor regression and is now Food and Drug Administration-approved for patients with disease refractory to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Since the advent of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells for patients with hematological malignancies, a growing network of centers capable of delivering effector T cell products to patients has developed.
