Design of Dielectric Elastomer Actuator and Its Application in Flexible Gripper.

Micromachines (Basel)

January 2025

Zhejiang Sunny Optical Company, Yuyao 315400, China.

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) are difficult to apply to flexible grippers due to their small deformation range and low output force. Hence, a DEA with a large bending deformation range and output force was designed, and a corresponding flexible gripper was developed to realize the function of grasping objects of different shapes. The relationship between the pre-stretch ratio and DEA deformation degree was tested by experiments.

We demonstrate a hybrid integrated optical frequency comb amplifier composed of a silicon carbide microcomb and a lithium niobate waveguide amplifier, which generates a 10-dB on-chip gain for the C+L band microcombs under 1480-nm laser pumping and an 8-dB gain under 980-nm laser pumping. It will solve the problem of low output power of microcombs and can be applied in various scenarios such as optical communication, lidar, optical computing, astronomical detection, atomic clocks, and more.

High-power electrically pumped terahertz topological laser based on a surface metallic Dirac-vortex cavity.

Nat Commun

Laboratory of Solid-State Optoelectronics Information Technology, Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

Topological lasers (TLs) have attracted widespread attention due to their mode robustness against perturbations or defects. Among them, electrically pumped TLs have gained extensive research interest due to their advantages of compact size and easy integration. Nevertheless, limited studies on electrically pumped TLs have been reported in the terahertz (THz) and telecom wavelength ranges with relatively low output powers, causing a wide gap between practical applications.

Self-injection-locked thin-film regenerative laser amplifier.

iScience

Institute of Information Photonics Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing 100124, P.R. China.

Organic lasers based on distributed feedback (DFB) microcavities have been extensively investigated. However, the application of these lasers is limited by their low output power and large beam divergence. Therefore, laser amplifiers are needed to achieve practically applicable laser intensity and controllable lasing modes for far-field applications.
