A double catheter, single interspace combined spinal-epidural anaesthetic was performed in 12 ASA grade 3 patients. The technique failed in one patient in whom the intrathecal catheter could not be inserted satisfactorily. In another patient, the epidural catheter was accidentally placed intrathecally. The maximum height of the block obtained with hyperbaric lignocaine or bupivacaine was below T10 in all patients and there were no adverse cardiovascular changes. As opposed to a classical combined spinal-epidural block, this technique is most suitable for very debilitated patients. The advantages are the ability to titrate the intrathecal dose of the local anaesthetic to achieve the desired dermatomal level and to test the correct position of the epidural catheter before injecting drugs intrathecally.

Objective: FAIR Health-a nonprofit, state-funded database-was created as an independent repository of healthcare claims paid data to address allegations of price fixing. Many insurers have forced physicians to negotiate payments based on Medicare rates, rather than utilizing FAIR Health. The authors' objective was to provide an overview of regional differences in reimbursement rates per several sample neurosurgical Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and to compare Medicare, Medicaid, and usual, customary, and reasonable rates via FAIR Health rate estimates.

Background: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for the surgical treatment of cervical degenerative disease often includes an intervertebral cage, which restores disc height and lordosis while promoting fusion . Cage materials include titanium (TTN) or polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Controversy in material selection stems from higher fusion rates with TNN, despite a higher subsidence rate, while PEEK cages demonstrate superior preservation of interspace height.

Intramuscular recordings of single motor unit activity from parasternal intercostal muscles show a rostrocaudal gradient in timing and amplitude of inspiratory activity. This study determined the feasibility of surface electromyographic activity (EMG) to measure graded parasternal intercostal activity in young females and males during quiet breathing and breathing with inspiratory resistive loads. Surface EMGs were recorded from the 1st-to-5th parasternal intercostal muscles during 10 min of breathing.

In this work, a simple green synthesis method of the novel metal-organic framework (MOF) nanocomposite PCN-224/Au-NPs (Au-NPs = gold nanoparticles) is described. In this regard, initially, PCN-224 was synthesized. Afterward, in a single-step, one-pot procedure, under visible-light irradiation, Au-NPs were fabricated on PCN-224.
