The electrochemical oxidation of alcohol molecules has gained significance as a key anode reaction, offering an alternative to the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) for hydrogen (H) production and carbon dioxide (CO) reduction. The (photo)electrochemical oxidation of benzyl alcohol and its derivatives serves as an important model system, not only because benzyl alcohol oxidation is a critical industrial process, but also because it offers valuable insights into electrocatalytic biomass conversion. Tailoring this reaction through electrochemical and photoelectrochemical methods using heterogeneous noble and transition metal electrocatalysts presents a green approach and the potential for uncovering new reaction mechanisms.

A series of new arecoline derivatives containing amino acid fragments were synthesized, and their fungicidal activities were investigated. All synthesized compounds were characterized by H NMR, CNMR, and HRMS. Preliminary bioactivity assays demonstrated that Compounds 3k, 3n, 3p, 3q, 3r, and 3s exhibited significant antifungal activity against Botryosphaeria cactivora, Botryosphaeria dothidea, and Fusarium pseudograminearum at a concentration of 100 μg/mL.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), including phthalates, have been implicated in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and hepatic fibrosis. This study investigates the age-dependent effects of butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) exposure on lipid metabolism in the livers of young and aged mice. Young (2-month-old) and aged (20-month-old) male C57BL/6 mice were exposed to BBP through drinking water at a dose of 169 μg/kg/day for 6 and 4 months, respectively.

Solar and indoor withering in the manufacturing process of semi-fermented oolong tea are crucial for aroma formation. While the processes have been established through accumulated experience, the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. This study identified pairs of gene and volatile organic compound (VOC) that were significantly correlated and up-regulated during solar withering and the first shaking, including lipoxygenase 8 (LOX8) with 3-hexenyl iso-butyrate, terpene synthase 2 (TPS2) with β-ocimene and linalool, as well as tryptophan synthase β-subunit 2 (TSB2) with indole.
