1. The effect of membrane phospholipid composition and fluidity on tyrosine kinase activity was investigated in rat liver plasma membranes. 2. The phospholipid composition has been modified by in vitro enrichment of plasma membranes with different phospholipids in the presence of lipid transfer proteins and by partial delipidation with exogenous phospholipases A2, C and D and subsequent enrichment with phosphatidylglycerol. 3. Phosphatidylglycerol and dioleoylglycerophosphocholine caused dramatic elevation of this activity, while phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine were less effective. Enrichment with dipalmitoylglycerophosphocholine and sphingomyeline reduced tyrosine kinase activity.

A facultative anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterial strain AGMB14963 was isolated from the feces of a dairy cow. A 16S rRNA gene sequence-based phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain AGMB14963 belongs to the genus Gallibacterium, with Gallibacterium salpingitidis F150 being the closest species (95.8% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity).

A novel phosphate-solubilizing and zinc-solubilizing actinobacterium strain YIM S08009 was isolated from rhizosphere soil collected from Pinus yunnanensis in Wuliangshan National Nature Reserve, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, southwest PR China. Cells of strain YIM S08009 were Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, irregular rods to cocci, and formed yellow and white colonies on nutrient agar. Growth was observed at 10-40 °C (optimum 25-35 °C), pH 6.

The impact of thermal treatment for roasting on pine nuts from two geographical regions in Russia (Vladivostok and Baikal) was studied. They were roasted at 180 °C for 20 min in an oven. The aim was to establish the changes that occurred in the chemical (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, ash, fibers), lipid composition (fatty acids, tocopherols, sterols, phospholipids), and physicochemical characteristics (peroxide value, acid value, iodine value, conjugated dienes and trienes) after roasting of the pine nuts.

Lipid-coated oxygen microbubbles (OMBs) are being investigated for biomedical applications to alleviate hypoxia such as systemic oxygenation and image-guided radiosensitization therapy. Additionally, they hold potential for boarder application as oxygen carriers beyond the biomedical filed.
