The creation of intestinal neomucosa on grafts or materials implanted in the intestinal wall is one of the therapeutic procedures that has been tested in the short bowel syndrome. This paper presents the results obtained after intestinal implanting lyophilised dural patches in an experimental model of massive intestinal resection in rats. Data were contrasted with those of a control group subjected to massive resection without patches. The findings reveal: 1) high mortality related to the surgical technique; 2) slight improvement in the ponderal curve; 3) slowing down of intestinal transit; 4) neomucosa on the patch, with histological characteristic similar to normal. We conclude that although the creation of neomucosa on dural patches is feasible and conditions a slight improvement in the animal's nutritive status, application of the procedure is not practical in treatment for the short bowel syndrome due to the high mortality rate.

The expanding portfolio of targeted therapies for ulcerative colitis (UC) suggests that a more precise approach to defining disease activity will aid clinical decision-making. This prospective study used genome-wide microarrays to characterize gene expression in biopsies from the most inflamed colon segments from patients with UC and analyzed associations between molecular changes and short-term outcomes while on standard-of-care treatment. We analyzed 141 biopsies-128 biopsies from 112 UC patients and 13 biopsies from eight inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) patients.

Background: Although neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) for advanced gastric cancer (AGC) can benefit patient survival, few studies have compared the short- and long-term outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic gastrectomy for AGC after NAT.
Methods: The clinical data of 321 AGC patients who received NATs and who underwent robotic gastrectomy (RG, n = 109) or laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG, n = 212) between May 2017 and September 2022 were collected and analyzed retrospectively at our center. After propensity score matching (PSM) for 1:1 matching to eliminate bias, both groups had 106 cases.
