A review of 24 patients reconstructed with calvarial bone grafts and 93 Branemark implants (Nobelpharma, Chicago, IL) revealed an overall success rate of 91.4%. Two grafting techniques were used. A vertical grafting technique with delayed implant placement had an 86% success rate in 13 patients who had 50 implants placed. The average follow-up for this group was 31 months. A horizontal grafting technique with immediate implant placement had a success rate of 98%. This group included 13 patients who had 43 implants placed at the time of their bone grafting procedure. Two patients had a combination of grafting techniques. The average follow-up for this group was 18 months. A patient questionnaire revealed a high percentage and degree of satisfaction.

Anterior cervical interbody fusion (ACDF) has become a classic surgical procedure for the treatment of cervical degenerative diseases, and various interbody cages are widely used in this procedure. We used 3D printing technology to produce a new type of plate-locking cage, anticipating to achieve high fusion rate with the high biomechanical stability. This study is to compare the biomechanical characteristics between a newly designed interbody cage and a conventional Zero-profile cage during ACDF using finite element analysis.

Background: The global incidence of high myopia is increasing, with projections indicating a rise from 3 to 10% of the global population by 2050. Effective treatment options exist to reduce myopia progression, but their success is contingent on patient adherence. This study assesses the impact of changes in treating physicians on adherence to therapy to control myopia progression.

Background: Currently, there is a deficiency in nomograms specifically designed for predicting the failure of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy in patients with hypercapnic acute respiratory failure (hypercapnic ARF). The aim of this retrospective study is to develop and evaluate a nomogram that assesses the risk of HFNC failure in this patient population.
Methods: Patients with ARF and hypercapnia (PaCO ≥ 45 mmHg in the initial arterial blood gas) who received HFNC in the intensive care unit (ICU) from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023 were enrolled in this study.

Background: Direct evidence linking ambient temperature to human fecundity is sparse. We aimed to evaluate the potential impact of ambient temperature on time to pregnancy (TTP) and identify the optimal temperature range for initiating conception attempts.
Methods: Our analysis included 576 927 couples from the Chinese National Free Preconception Health Examination Project (NFPHEP) in Yunnan Province, with a one-year follow-up post-enrollment.

Introduction: Recurrent Tracheoesophageal Fistula (rTEF) is a complication of Esophageal Atresia (EA) that can lead to severe respiratory symptoms. RTEF can be corrected via endotracheal treatment (ET) or surgical treatment (ST). The efficacy of these techniques varies in literature.
