Idiotypic antibodies were produced in rabbits to Rh antibodies isolated from the serum of an individual with high Rh antibody titer. These antisera after absorption with blood IgG failed to react with immunoglobulins lacking anti-Rh activity. They agglutinated cells coated with the immunizing antibody to high titers. Two other anti-Rh coats out of 22 tested also were agglutinated but to considerably reduced titers indicating a degree of anti-Rh cross specificity. Four other antisera made to red cells coated with different anti-Rh antibodies showed definite but weaker idiotypic specificity. Both the idiotypic and cross-idiotypic antigens of the Rh antibodies were completely blocked when univalent fragments of the Rh antibodies were bound to antigen on the red cell.

Background And Objectives: Despite advances in the prevention of rhesus (Rh)(D) alloimmunization, alloantibodies to Rh(D) and non-Rh(D) red blood cell antigens continue to be detected in ∼4% of US pregnancies and can result in hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). Recent reports on HDFN lack granularity and are unable to provide antibody-specific outcomes. The objective of this study was to calculate the frequency of alloimmunization in our large hospital system and summarize the outcomes based on antibody specificity, titer, and other clinical factors.

Background: The Rh system is an extremely important RBC antigen system with over 50 antigens, 5 of which (D, C, E, c and e) are considered most clinically significant. The rare Rhnull phenotype can result from mutations in the RHD and RHCE genes or the RHAG gene that affects their expression. This is a case report of the second type.

Background: with widespread distribution infects over one third of human populations in the world and can cause serious life-threatening diseases especially for the immunodeficient patients in acute toxoplasmosis. As the clinical pharmaceutical drugs with severe side effects for treatment and non-ideal extant vaccines for prevention, more work starves to be done for keeping advantages in the athletics.
Methods: Aluminum adjuvant and hybrid formaldehyde-killed tachyzoites of RH and GT1 isolates were prepared to intramuscularly immunize BALB/c mice for five times at 0, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days post first injection.

Background: RBC alloimmunization remains a significant problem for many patients with SCD. To reduce alloimmunization some strategies have been implemented to provide limited or extended antigen matched RBC transfusions to patients with SCD who need chronic transfusion support. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of prophylactic RBC transfusion with extended antigen matching on alloimmunization in patients with SCD.

Background: Transfusion treatment during life, as well as pregnancy in women, can stimulate the sensitization of the person who received blood, which after the transfusion of blood products can result in the occurrence of moderate to very severe posttransfusion reactions.
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the specificity and frequency of antierythrocyte antibodies during the pretransfusion treatment of patients depending on the gender, to determine the origin of antibodies in patients serum, as well as to examine their clinical significance.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of documentation was performed in the Department for Pretransfusion Testing, therapy and distribution of blood products, Polyclinic for Transfusion, UKC Tuzla.
