Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is associated with 5-10% of gastric cancers and is recognized as a distinct molecular subtype. EBV positivity is particularly high in gastric remnant cancer (GRC), which may inform the mode of clinical presentation and findings at endoscopy. Most data are from the East, and the question remains how this applies to a Western cohort.

Immunocompromised patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) can develop opportunistic esophageal candidial and cytomegaloviral infections. A case is reported which extends the clinico-endoscopic severity of these infections. A 32-year-old bisexual man with AIDS since 1997, and intermittently compliant with antiretroviral therapy, presented (2007) with dysphagia and 32 kg-weight loss.

Background and aims Acute upper gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding is one of the serious and potentially life-threatening medical emergencies, causing significant mortality and morbidity. This study aimed to evaluate the clinico-endoscopic profile and outcome among patients aged <60 years who presented for UGI bleeding compared to those aged ≥60 years. Methods: Proven cases of GI polyp(s) on endoscopy were classified as single polyp, multiple polyps, and polyposis syndrome.
