Ketorolac 10 mg or 30 mg i.m., 6 hourly or placebo was given to 75 patients who had undergone thoracotomy, in a randomized double-blind study. All subjects were given intercostal nerve blocks with bupivacaine and had access to i.v. patient-controlled morphine. I.m. ketorolac improved the success rate of the analgesic regimen, with fewer patients withdrawing from the study because of inadequate pain relief.

Background: Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols are multimodal perioperative care pathways shown to improve postoperative complications and decrease length of stay after surgery. A critical component of an enhanced recovery after surgery protocol is the use of multimodal non-opiate analgesia using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and COX-2 inhibitors.
Objective: To compare the incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding between patients treated with and without an enhanced recovery after surgery protocol.

Background: Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is a crucial component of pain management during total knee arthroplasty (TKA), Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly included in the drug cocktail. The use of NSAIDs are associated with adverse renal, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular effects. This study aimed to investigate whether the addition of an NSAID in LIA affects the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in TKA patients, especially those who have pre-existing renal impairment.

Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare, sudden, and catastrophic complication of pregnancy that can result in cardiopulmonary arrest, potentially leading to death. The pathophysiology of an AFE includes an inflammatory and coagulopathic response due to fetal materials entering maternal circulation with the hallmark triad of symptoms: acute respiratory distress, cardiovascular collapse, and coagulopathy. Management of AFE should include high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation, immediate delivery of the fetus if applicable, early intubation to provide adequate oxygenation and ventilation, fluid volume resuscitation, and ongoing evaluation of coagulopathy.

Ophthalmic preparations that contain ketorolac tromethamine (KET) and olopatadine HCl (OLO) are used to relieve seasonal allergies and allergic conjunctivitis. Simultaneous quantification of KET and OLO was held by validated and simple spectrophotometric methods. KET was determined directly from the fundamental UV absorption spectra (at 323 nm), while OLO was determined after performing either dual wavelength or ratio derivative methods.
