Islatravir (ISL) is the first-in-class nucleoside reverse transcriptase translocation inhibitor (NRTtI) with novel modes of action. Data on ISL resistance are currently limited, particularly to HIV-1 non-B subtypes. This study aimed to assess prevalent nucleos(t)ide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI)-resistant mutations in HIV-1 subtype C for their phenotypic resistance to ISL.

Background: Fixed-dose combination of dolutegravir (DTG) with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and lamivudine (3TC) likely improves adherence and has a favorable resistance profile. We evaluated predicted efficacy of TLD (TDF-3TC-DTG) in children and adolescents failing abacavir (ABC), zidovudine (AZT), or TDF containing regimens.
Methods: Drug resistance mutations were analyzed in a retrospective dataset of individuals <19 years of age, failing ABC (n = 293) AZT (n = 288) or TDF (n = 69) based treatment.

Background: We assessed the prevalence of acquired HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) and associated factors among patients receiving first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Rwanda.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 702 patients receiving first-line ART for at least 6 months with last viral load (VL) results ≥1000 copies/mL. Blood plasma samples were subjected to VL testing; specimens with unsuppressed VL were genotyped to identify HIVDR-associated mutations.
