Computerized transaxial tomography was carried out on 50 consecutive unselected patients referred to a neurologic practice for evaluation of focal epilepsy. Structural abnormalities were defined in 35.3 percent of these studies: porencephalic cysts in six patients, diffuse cerebral atrophy in five, cerebral hemiatrophy in three, focal cortical atrophy in two, neoplasms in two, hydrocephalus in one patient, and cerebeller hypoplasia in one. Computerized transaxial tomography is a useful outpatient procedure for evaluation and follow-up of patients with focal seizure disorders.

Introduction: The objective of the study was to compress 99m-Tc TRODAT single-photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT) scan image using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) into an acceptable compressed image and then calculate the compression factor.
Materials And Methods: The SVD of every image from the image dataset of 2256 images (of forty-eight 99m-Tc TRODAT SPECT studies [48 studies X 47 trans-axial images = 2256 trans-axial images]) was computed and after truncating singular values smaller than a threshold, the compressed image was reconstructed. The SVD computation time and percentage compression achieved were calculated for each image.

Rationale: The aim of this study was to evaluate fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) uptake in the right ventricle (RV) of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and to characterize the variability of 18F-FDG uptake in the RV at different time points following radiotracer administration using PET/computerized tomography (CT). Impaired RV systolic function, RV hypertrophy, and RV dilation are associated with increases in mean pulmonary arterial pressure in patients with COPD. Metabolic changes in the RV using 18F-FDG-PET images 2 and 3 h after tracer injection have not yet been investigated.
