The hypothesis was tested that proximal and distal reaction times (RTs) might be differentially affected in Parkinson's disease (PD). Twelve patients with PD were compared with 12 age-matched healthy controls on tests of finger-, hand-, leg-, and torso-RTs. Patients were significantly slower in initiating all movements and were slower in executing all movements except for the leg (stepping) task. Choice- versus simple-RTs were also not differentially affected in the PD group. In the healthy subjects, age was significantly positively correlated with response initiation times (RITs) but not with movement times (MTs).

Methods: In this cross-sectional analysis, we evaluated AVF blood flow using an ultrasound device at resting and after three muscle movements for proximal (elbow flexion, shoulder adduction and abduction) or distal AVF (fist extension and flexion, fingers squeeze), without and with a 2 kg load.

Identifying proximal and multigenerational distal risk mechanisms through which adversity exposure may shape neuroendocrine dysregulation among children is critical to advancing effective preventive interventions for adversity-exposed individuals. Utilizing longitudinal data ( = 247), the current study examined maternal and offspring history of childhood maltreatment (CM) as predictors of offspring cortisol/DHEA ratios, and, in exploratory analyses, extended this longitudinally to offspring depressive symptoms in young adulthood.
